Review: Smashbox- Heatwave Eye Shadow Palette

Review: Smashbox- Heatwave Eye Shadow Palette
Smashbox is a amazing brand of make-up and I had heard a lot of good things about the quality of the products. The palette was part of the summer 2013 so I no longer believe its on sale.So when I saw a eye-shadow palette with 10 highly pigmented shades varying from neutral toned, warm toned and cool toned eye shadows, I need to try it. I believe it was  priced at £26 which I found to be a extremely for 10 eye shadows.

My favorite shades in this palette are out of the top row the first colour which is a matte orange shade , the 3rd colour along which is the only other matte shade which is a soft brown which is a similar mix between 'Limit' and 'Nooner' from the naked 3 palette and also the shade next to the brown which is a pink shimmery toned eye shadow similar to 'Burnout' from the naked 3 palette. On the bottom row I like all of the eye shadows but i especially like the pale champagne shimmer toned eye shadow.
The look I mainly use with this palette is using the matte orange, matte brown and the pale champagne shimmer. Using the fluffy brush that comes with the palette I sweep the matte orange over my lid to be the base eye shadow, about 3/4 in I take a bit of the matte brown to deepen the look also I add the brown to the crease. Taking the a mix between the brown and the orange I run it under my eye with the smaller ended side of the brush. I start from the outer corner as this is were I want most colour pay off. I used the smallest amount of the pale champagne colour in  the inner corner to make my eyes look bigger. I then do a thick line of liguid eyeliner giving it a small wing , I finish the look with a lot of mascara as I am a fan of spider lashes.

How to Style: Doc Martens 1460 Cherry Red

How to Style: Doc Martens 1460 Cherry Red

How to Style: Doc Martens 1460 Cherry Red

This is how I think the Doc Marten 1460 Cherry Red boots are best style and the way I would wear them, this is my opinion and you may think differently depending on your style whatever way you feel confident wearing them you will look good! Despite being a massive fan of Doc Martens I am yet to own a pair but this doesn't mean I don't imagine outfits I would wear with 'docs'. As the Cherry Red is a bold colour of shoe to wear I think that they are best paired with very plain coloured clothing like monochrome, as I think it keeps the boots as the 'statement' part of the outfit.
The first outfit I chose was a more casual outfit as I picked pair of black 'mom' jeans with ripped jeans I chose these as I am a fan of the way 'mom' jeans compliment most figures and a very in style, the rips I think add to the casual look that is seen as 'grungey' . I paired the jeans with a black jumper with white stripes as you can tuck it in to the jeans or leave it baggy .
The other outfit I chose was a black, white and grey playsuit with cutout detail on the waist and fishnet tights. I decided to pick fishnet tights instead of plain black as I think that it adds a bit of edge to the look also if your not comfortable with your skin being shown on the cutout the fishnet could add a nice bit of detail. I also decided on some black sock with 2 striprs to finish off the look as it ties the whole look nicely together.

Remembering Leelah Alcorn

Leelah Alcorn, the girl who has captured the heart of the world, after her suicide. Leelah was born Joshua Ryan Alcorn, on the 15th November 1997 in Ohio, USA and died on the 28th December 2014, aged 17. Making her the same age I am, as I write this article. Leelah was transgender, hence why she had changed her name despite her parents refusal to see this and it is because of her parents refusal to understand and accept Leelah for who she is she ended her life. But furthermore her parents rejection of who she was, Leelah will be cremated and the name on her tomb will be Joshua Ryan. Not Leelah. Moreover her parents also seem unaware that their lack of acknowledgment and love of who she was led her to end her life. As even post suicide her own mother refers to her as my son.
Leelehs parents were christian, so being gay, transgendered or even bisexual are forsaken within their religion, additionally so is cremation. Which leads the public to question how true their faiths were, as is was written on Leelahs blog, which has now been removed from tumblr, that her parents stated that she was going to be 'sent to hell' along with many other things, making her hate her religion and then later her parents.
The whole world has reacted to Leelahs death, as the year is now 2015 and people are still being pressured to do things because of the 'way they are' this should be abolished like the segeration laws which American had until the 1960s because just because someone has a different skin colour to you it doesn't mean you have the right to tell them what to do. And just because someones sexuality is different to yours doesn't mean that you shouldn't accept them for who they are. As we are all human. Here are a view images off tumblr showing how the world has reacted to Leelahs death.

what makes things aesthetic?

Continuing from Rufios post about images being aesthetically pleasing, i've decided to try and figure out what makes them so pleasing to us, using my knowledge from media, film and photography, to try and decode the images.
When trying decide what images to decode I turned to tumblr, a site commonly used by '13 year old hipsters, trying to express themselves'. Similar to instagram. Moreover this is why I turned to tumblr and instagram, has they are site where people can express themselves to people they don't know and they don't have to worry about being judged by society, as people are extremely judgemental, especially is someone is different to the 'norm'. This is why people express themselves over the media and social media, as it allows an active audience to decide their own narrative and themselves.
The unmade bed, the mess which we leave behind during our stillest period. Because we spend half of our lives in those sheets their is a deep meaning within them, as we see them as home, as they're welcoming and warm furthermore they are familiar and somewhere we know is safe.
Women are shown in the media as broken down, weak, to show them as being less then men, as men are scary of being castrasted and because women do not have a phallus. This photograph is a excellent example of the theory which Judith Butler presented us with. It also shows us the pains of being a women, as throughout a women's' life there is pain.
That two images telling us completely different things but yet they're still both beautiful in our society which I think makes them aesthetic.

Aesthetic

aesthetic
iːsˈθɛtɪk,ɛs-/
adjective
  1. 1.
concerned with beauty or the appreciation of beauty.
"the pictures give great aesthetic pleasure"

Floating around instagram and tumblr are comments and captions of the word 'aesthetics' or 'aesthetically pleasing'. Images such a white wall rooms with potted plants, food, water, fashion and I've even seen a photo of teeth with braces that someone has commented 'aesthetics'. Why are suddenly pictures found so 'aesthetically pleasing', what is that when people see a white walls and green plants that something inside them just burst as the photo or image is giving them so much pleasure to look at? Some of the simplest images are the most pleasing to look at.Below are some of my favourite 'aesthetically pleasing' photos I found on tumblr.

Book review- Betrayal Mayandree Michel

Name: Betrayal
Betrayal (The Descendants #1)
Author: Mayandree Michel
Rating: 5 out of 5
Blurb:
"Where there is love and power, there is always... betrayal.
At seventeen, Cordelia is an ordinary teen with an extraordinary and frightening secret. A secret that induces vivid dreams which she not only experiences true love, but crippling fear while barely escaping with her life each night.
After a life altering event, Cordelia has an unexpected encounter with Evan, the mysterious boy from her dreams, who reveals who and what she is, a descendant of the Greek gods. At that moment everything she knows of her world is a lie, and she must leave the present and go into the past to assume the role she was put on this earth for, safeguarding her ancient empire amidst evil forces that toil hastily to destroy it.
In a race against time, Cordelia must decide if she is truly a part of this dangerous world, or risk defying the gods, and ultimately lose the boy who has put a claim on her heart."
My Review:
This book had everything in it, Greek Gods, Vampires, Were Shifters, Love, Forbidden Love and Betrayal! I loved the idea of this book even though it was quite confusing at the start, also it's the first in the Descendants Triology (I think it's going to be a triology anyway) which means one amazing thing, theres going to be more books! I fell in love with Evan, Nikolas and maybe evenb Victor. I believe this is Michel's first book and so far she is looking like she is going to be an amazing new author!

Flatforms

Flatforms

ˈflatfɔːm/
noun
BRITISH
plural noun: flatforms
  1. a flat shoe with a high, thick sole.
    "a pair of tan flatforms"

Flatforms are no longer just the traditional 'creepers', if you search flatform in the search bar when online shopping (or when your crying at how pretty and expensive clothes are which I do daiLY) the results:
Flatforms
105 styles found
105 styles found on a shoe style many believe as 'weird'. But flatforms are increasing on the popularity scale as more e styles are being created to suite everybody tastes. Boots, trainers, brogues, monk shoes, even sandals are joining the flatform revelation. Many people believe that because flatforms look higher then normal shoes or heels that they would be harder to walk in but as the sole of the shoe as all at one level, walking in flatforms is easier then walking in heels!
Also the rise in popularity of flatforms could be down to ( or whatever you call them) like Charlie Barker (charliexbarker) and Elizabeth Bishop (elizabethjanebishop) not only do many people cry at their beauty but they also love their unique style and approach to fashion. I've notice when i stalk their pages that they seem to have a love for flatform shoes

As they seem to like the extremes of flatform shoes, I like the more simple thinner soled shoes in plainer styles such as boots, creepers and trainer flatform as they would suite my certain style I have. But experiment with flatforms and of you like the way they look on you then rock them because you'll look great!
