what makes things aesthetic?

Continuing from Rufios post about images being aesthetically pleasing, i've decided to try and figure out what makes them so pleasing to us, using my knowledge from media, film and photography, to try and decode the images.
When trying decide what images to decode I turned to tumblr, a site commonly used by '13 year old hipsters, trying to express themselves'. Similar to instagram. Moreover this is why I turned to tumblr and instagram, has they are site where people can express themselves to people they don't know and they don't have to worry about being judged by society, as people are extremely judgemental, especially is someone is different to the 'norm'. This is why people express themselves over the media and social media, as it allows an active audience to decide their own narrative and themselves.
The unmade bed, the mess which we leave behind during our stillest period. Because we spend half of our lives in those sheets their is a deep meaning within them, as we see them as home, as they're welcoming and warm furthermore they are familiar and somewhere we know is safe.
Women are shown in the media as broken down, weak, to show them as being less then men, as men are scary of being castrasted and because women do not have a phallus. This photograph is a excellent example of the theory which Judith Butler presented us with. It also shows us the pains of being a women, as throughout a women's' life there is pain.
That two images telling us completely different things but yet they're still both beautiful in our society which I think makes them aesthetic.
