keeping up with the world- John Jolie-Pitt 30/12/14

In recent months in has been seen that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's daughter Shiloh, is still being requested to be called John, after it first came about in a 2008 interview with Opera Winfrey, but now 6 years on she is still being called John, through her (or should I say his) own choice. When the media constantly still refers them as a her (I will refer to John as them or their throughout this post as I am unsure), as she has identified as a boy since around the age 2 and a half. And it is believed that children know whether they are mentally male or female from the age of 3, making John acceptable for this psychology theory. Moreover this doesn't seem to be just a phase as John has been dressing like a guy now since the age of 2 and has kept the same style, even now with a younger sister. As it was originally believed that they were dressing the way they were to be like their older brothers.
Furthermore it drives me insane how it is only Jolie who gets blamed for the way their child acts and dresses. John is both Pitts and Jolie's child, the media needs to stop running down Jolie from it and not say anything about Pitts parenting, because this simply isn't fair on her. If anything they should both be given an award for allowing their child to dress how they want to without a care for what the media has to say, as it's only because they're famous that they're being targeted for it.  I found the image above on tumblr as I think it carries an important message, that boys and girls should be raised the same way and not stereotyped to certain tastes. As a boy should be able to play with dolls just as much as girls should and girls be able to play war or something like a boy. Because in this day and age the media is telling us that sexes have very certain tastes, but as Judith Butler argued only gender is set, our sex can be changed.
And now for my song of the article, related to prejudice.

School Girl Chic

School Girl Chic

Not only are pinafores for primary schools or for the ages 6 and below. Pinafores have become a staple item in my wardrobe especially during winter. You can release your inner 4 year old and wear a roll neck top (red top under black pinafore is one of the ways I like to wear it) or go more school girl chic and wear a blouse or polo shirt. As some pinafore have a baggy oversized feel to them, they can make you seem like your figure is non-existent. To add more shape and show your figure add a plain black thick rimmed belt to the waist by dong this you are drawing the attention to your waist. Also by adding a scarf or kimono it adds a pop of colour and makes it look a little less like a 4 year old. Pairing it with a black floral kimono I feel like I'm summoning my inner misty day. To complete the look I pair it with either black studded boots for more of a rock chic feel or black hi-top converse for a more laid back feel.

clothes haul- 27/12/2014

With the lead up to Christmas and the boxing day sales I decided to treat myself to a new blouse, for my university interviews which was £15 in the sale reduced from £32, which is basically a steal from topshop. I wanted to look smart but at the same time slightly casual as I am applying for photography. The blouse is baby pink and is quite floaty, so you don't have to wear it tucked in. And it would look perfect with a pair of black skinny jeans or plain skirt, for my interview I plan on either wearing it with my black topshop joni jeans (£36) or my leather skirt from h&m which was a Christmas present and I believe was around £15.

On top of this before the sales, I brought a top glittery top also from topshop for £25, I brought this for my friends party which in the new year, and I plan on wearing this with my black leather skirt with blue heals dress it up a bit.
The third and final item in my haul is a blue velvet kimono also from topshop (£55), which is to die for in my eyes. As it matches any pretty much any outfit, because its a subtle colour and very calm with no mad prints or anything on it. And with it being velvet, in my eyes jut makes it even better.
And now for a song which has been rocking my week and would be great to sing along to in my kimono (I speak from experience) and it is Sisters of the Moon by Fleetwood Mac

everything and anything inbetween II

Hi, I run the instagram account @rufio_0h. I'm going to be co-running this account with my sister @_ashxs. You should give us a follow to be kept in the loop of our lifes. Along with a crazy 4 month old beagle puppy, Parker, my life pretty much revolves around music, fashion, hair, make-up and generally sleeping way too much. I'm going to post outfit and fashion posts, make-up reviews and trying to be tutorials, what my favourite things are books, music, films etc.

everything and anything inbetween

Basically I'm Ashleigh, I'm 17 and I study photography, media and film. I'm hoping to go to university next year to study photography. This is just a basic intro post, as right now I'm not 100% what this blog is going to be, so I want to keep it quite open. But I know I want to include things like book reviews, music posts, film reviews, clothes which I buy and probably the odd feminism rant. Probably like every other teenage blogger there is out there.
So to give you a general feel about myself I'll give myself a simple a introduction. Photography is a huge part of my life, along side music, films and books, these are my escapes. As although I am happy and content with my life now, I still feel the need to escape. And I use these mechanisms as they were there for me when no one else was. 90% of the time I have my headphones in and never leave the house without my Ipod, I try to give myself at least half an hour reading time a night as who wants to be restricted to just their life, which I one of the reasons I think I want to start blogging to get the story out of just an ordinary kid. But yeah. Hopefully see you again shortly.
